Privacy Policy
SailMeteo (the “app”, the “service”) respects your privacy. This page explains what data is processed, why, with whom it is shared, and how to exercise your rights. It covers the website sailmeteo.fr and the SailMeteo iOS app.
1. Data controller
The SailMeteo service is operated by an individual. For any question about your personal data, contact: contact@sailmeteo.fr.
2. Data we process
- Account (optional): your email address when you create an account by email, Apple or Google. “Sign in with Apple” may let you hide your real email.
- Settings and content: your preferences (units, display), your weather areas and favorite routes, synced to the cloud when you are signed in, so you can find them across your devices and on the web.
- Location: your precise position, only if you allow it, to show you on the map and as the starting point for routing. It is used on the device and is not stored on our servers.
- Advertising: advertising identifiers and usage data processed by our ad network (Google AdMob) to display ads, subject to your consent (see §5).
- Technical data: the minimal information needed to operate the service (weather requests, security logs). Weather data contains no personal data.
3. Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)
- Provide the service (account, sync, map, routing) — performance of the contract / your request.
- Advertising — your consent, collected via the consent dialog (and the App Tracking Transparency permission on iOS).
- Security and proper operation — legitimate interest.
4. Processors and sharing
We do not sell your data. It may be processed by sub-processors strictly to run the service:
- Supabase — authentication and database (account, settings, areas, favorites).
- Google AdMob — displaying ads (see Google's policy).
- Apple / Google — when you choose “Sign in with Apple / Google”.
- SailMeteo weather server (self-hosted Open-Meteo) — providing forecasts, with no personal data.
5. Advertising and consent
The app displays ads via Google AdMob. Depending on your region, a consent dialog lets you accept or refuse personalized ads. On iOS, the app also asks for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency). You can change this choice at any time from the Account screen (“Manage ad preferences”) and, on iOS, in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
6. Retention
Your account data is kept as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is erased (see §8).
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object, as well as the right to data portability. To exercise them, write to contact@sailmeteo.fr. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
8. Account and data deletion
You can delete your account directly in the app: Account → “Delete my account”. This permanently erases your account and all your cloud data (areas, settings, favorites). You can also request it by email.
9. Children
The service is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
This policy may be updated; the date at the top of the page indicates the latest version. In case of a significant change, we will inform users by an appropriate means.
