Getting started
Create and download a weather area
An "area" is your weather playground: a rectangle of the map that you download so you can check it later, even with no signal.
1. Create the area
Open the area manager and choose "New area". Draw a rectangle on the map around your sailing sector, then give it a name (e.g. "Gulf of Lion" or "Menorca").
Area size: neither too small (you'd sail out of the frame) nor too large (heavier download). Cover your route plus a comfortable margin around it.
2. Choose models and parameters
Select the weather model(s) and the parameters you're interested in (wind, gusts, waves, currents, etc.), along with the forecast range (how many days). The more items you tick, the richer the download — and the larger it gets.
3. Download
Start the download: a progress bar shows how it's going. Once finished, the area is ready to be checked offline.
Example
Before a trip in the Gulf of Lion: area drawn around the coast, high-resolution model + waves, 3-day range, download just before leaving → you set out with the most recent run.
Good to know
- Area definitions sync between the web and the iOS app (same favorites everywhere).
- The downloaded data stays local to each device: re-download on the one you take to sea.
- Remember to refresh the download before each trip so you set out with up-to-date forecasts.
